Changes for Training Ontario: New Home Builder Regulator

As of Monday, Feb. 1, the Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA) will assume responsibility for all builder and vendor licensing in Ontario.

All previous affiliations and final exam processes with Tarion at Training Ontario will now be transitioned to the Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA) as of Monday, Feb. 1.
 
As a result of this change, Training Ontario will begin offering live online exams available 24/7 through our online exam proctoring partner – ProctorU. This is a convenient and affordable way to complete online exams from any location with internet access, while a proctor monitors you remotely. ABOUT HCRA

HCRA is a not-for-profit corporation that is designed by the Government of Ontario to administer and enforce the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017 and the associated regulations. As an organization, they hold licensed builders to professional standards to enhance customer confidence in the home building industry in Ontario.

HCRA will be responsible for the licensing new home builders and vendors; enforcing high professional standards to competence and conduct; investigating illegal building practices; and administering the Ontario Builder Directory.
