Subject Matter Expert / Instructor

We’re Canada’s premium provider of quality education for the residential construction industry.

This position resides with the Professional Home Builders Institute (PHBI) and works alongside The Alberta New Home Warranty Program
(ANHWP) and The New Home Warranty Insurance (Canada) Corporation (NHWICC). PHBI has an immediate vacancy for a Subject Matter Expert and / or Instructor. These individuals are experts in their fields, backed by many years experience working on site, selling or marketing homes, operating home building, renovation companies or working in other industry-related professions.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • For instructors: facilitate successful classroom delivery.
  • Review and update existing course materials and exams to match learning outcomes and industry best practices, including developing new course materials as required.
  • Monitor and report on industry trends.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers and graphic designers to bring your work to life.
  • Participate in curriculum/program reviews.
  • Provide regular status updates to the Education Manager, including progress made and any obstacles encountered that may affect project deadlines.
  • Review and update existing content to make sure we build courses that are of the highest quality.
  • Develop and recommend new/revised content that meets and exceeds current standards, within established timelines.

Education & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in a related field: business, new home sales and marketing, new home construction and/or renovation.
  • At least 10 years of related industry experience: new home sales and marketing, new home construction and/or renovation.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
  • Expert knowledge in the residential construction industry or sales & marketing or business or renovation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

  • Strong attention to detail.

Considered Assets:

  • Instruction experience
  • Experience developing course materials for adult learners

Availability to travel, if required.
